bj-diagnostik has been the first private institution to offer DNA testing for molecular pathologists in Germany in 1998. Since then the field of molecular pathology has only been a matter of research in Germany. Patients in Germany do profit from this modern DNA diagnostic as do patients in Nigeria. This is a result of Germany's health system, which is not able to adopt new molecular methods. Nevertheless, there are a few pathologists who hesitantly started using molecular pathology and indeed, there may be a few lucky patients to receive diagnostics in molecular pathology, even in Germany.

Molecular diagnostics of inherited diseases is a new field in the medical sciences. The PCR method which has been awarded a nobel prize for chemistry in 1993 greatly simplified DNA diagnostics.
